Psi-Operatives are less than stellar at low levels, but can become your star soldiers at end-game, mostly due to their ability to learn many more abilities than other troops with enough time. Organic enemies have a chance to suffer Insanity. Generate an explosive field of Psionic energy that damages everything within. Affects a one-tile-wide line, ignoring cover and line-of-sight. Project a beam of psionic energy that damages every target it passes through.ДҐ-turn cooldown. Only one successful Domination can be performed per mission.Д¤-turn cooldown on failed domination attempt. If an enemy is carrying explosives, they can be remotely detonated by the Psi Operative.ДЇuse may also target corpses that contain unused explosives.

The Psi Operative is immune to fire, poison, acid, and explosive damage. Insanity now does a small amount of guaranteed damage, and applies Rupture to the target.Дў-4 damage and causes the enemy to suffer +2 damage from all attacks.

Does not clear status effects like acid or fire. If the Psi Operative takes lethal damage, they immediately enter Stasis mode with 1 HP, but only once per mission. If the Psi Operative takes enough damage to be killed, they are immediately put in Stasis for 1 turn and their health is only reduced to 1 HP. Conditions include disorient, stun, and panic.В№ Psi Operative is surrounded by an aura that extinguishes or blocks any mental impairments for themselves or nearby allies. Unconscious allies cannot be targeted by Stasis Shield. Stasis can be cast on allies, rendering them immune to any attacks, and stunned, for 1 turn. Returns half of the damage dealt by Soul Fire as health. Immediately grant a bonus action to an ally within sight range. Ignores cover and armor.Д¬ompletely stuns the target for 1 turn, but renders them immune to any damage or attack.Дebilitating telepathic attack that can inflict different negative conditions, including mental control of the target.Д¬onditions include disorientation and stun. (Training high tier ability takes about twice as long) Psionic Operatives are capable of learning all of the available psionic abilities, although this would requires considerable time and resources.Дoes guaranteed psionic damage to an organic enemy.

It is possible to gain early access to abilities far down the tree. This uses default game configured Psi-training times - head to XComLatentPsionics.Each training attempt allows a choice between three randomly selected abilities. On average, a fully ranked Psion will be a bit stronger than a maxed Psi Operative in terms of damaging psi powers. Psi skills scale off your psi stat - as it increases, your psi attacks will do more damage. Psions do not use Psi Amps so no real need to research higher tier psi amps at the moment. They are not strictly better per se, as they can only learn a limited number of psi skills, but those skills are added on top of your existing trooper rather than a nameless rookie. Psions replace base game Psi Operatives, as the Psi Lab has been completely repurposed. To rank up as a psion, you also need to have the requisite soldier rank, so don't forget to keep sending them out on missions!

Every time you rank up as a psion, you'll get randomized amounts of psi. If they haven't, they get to roll the roulette! To be eligible, you have to at least be a squaddie. Here's how it works: Whenever you enter the Psi Lab, the game will check if each of your units have rolled to become a psion yet.
